Being an entrepreneur is exciting, challenging, and sometimes isolating. It can be especially tough when the people closest to you, your friends and family, don’t share your enthusiasm. Here’s how to navigate those tricky situations and keep your dream alive.

Facing the Skeptics

We’ve all encountered the “Debbie Downer” — the friend who throws shade on your positive ideas. Their negativity can feel like wading through molasses, but it’s important to understand where it might come from. Fear of failure, a lack of understanding about entrepreneurship, or even their own unfulfilled dreams can manifest as discouragement.

Recognize and Detach

Sometimes, the best course of action is to step back. Engaging in a constant battle of wills will only drain your energy. Acknowledge their concerns, but politely explain that you’ve considered them and are moving forward.

Embrace the Silver Lining

Those “missed opportunities” your friends scoff at? They might be blessings in disguise.
