The Single Mom Circus: A One-Woman Act (That Somehow Became a Three-Ring Extravaganza)
Let me tell you, folks, being a single mom of three is like running a three-ring circus with a migraine and a clown who keeps stealing your coffee. It wasn’t always this way, though. Back then, I had a partner — a good guy, mostly.
But hey, life throws curve-balls faster than a toddler with a rogue juice box. When he, well, shuffled off this mortal coil (let’s just say the Grim Reaper finally got tired of him hogging all the good puns), reality hit me harder than a rogue elephant at a… well, a circus.
Suddenly, I was “Mommy” on overdrive, with no backup for pick-up duty, homework meltdowns, or the nightly negotiations over who gets the “good” half of the mystery meat casserole.
My blood family? Let’s just say they weren’t exactly “Team Player” material.
Turns out, blood doesn’t always make a family. You gotta find your own weirdos, your chosen tribe, the ones who show up with pizza and questionable parenting advice when your kid decides to “redecorate” the living room with permanent markers.
But here’s the thing: when you lose those “supposed-to-be” people, the universe has a funny way of showing you who truly matters.
In my case, it was a whole lot of faith, a sprinkle of sheer stubbornness, and a dash of “You got this, girl!” from the Almighty himself.
Let me tell you, God loves a hot mess. He doesn’t care about your laundry pile that could rival Mount Everest, or the fact that you haven’t showered in what feels like a week (because hey, priorities!). He loves you, flaws and all, just because you’re his kid.
So, yeah, the past was a doozy.
But hating it wouldn’t change a thing. Instead, I learned to see it as a lesson, a crazy twist in the story that made me who I am. And who I am is a pretty darn awesome single mom, even if I do say so myself. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a date with a mop, a mountain of laundry, and three tiny humans who desperately need convincing that glitter hairspray is not a good life choice. Wish me luck!
